Stress Tolerance

The evaluation tolerance lentil of arid and warm local national plant gene bank of iran to drought stress.

After regeneration and increasing of 148 lentils sample of warm and arid national plant gene bank of iran at seed and plant improvement institute farm in year (2003-2004) , the drought stress were studied on this samples in year (2004-2005). This samples each one planted in agriculture research station of zahak-zabol in 3 rows with 2m longth and 20cm space and distance between plots was 0.5m. drought was applied in all plots with first flower appearance and then irrigation interrupted till harvest stage and morphological characters evaluated but no one of samples could not be higher from aspect of yield than native sample in second year , then 18 selected samples with the highest yield provided for next year . this material planted in two separate experiment (normal and drought) on base of randomized complete block design . while in drought experiment irrigation interrupted with first flower appearance (similar second year) . in third year results showed there are not significant difference among samples from aspect of yield in two conditions of drought and normal but there are significant difference in normal condition among characters 100 seed weight , number day from planting till flowering , number day from planting till harvest and number day from flowering till harvest and mean comparison for this condition showed TN2022 is the latest maturity sample , in drought condition in addition characters in normal condition , likewise height also showed different . with seeing of mean comparison in drought condition TN2022 was again the latest maturity sample . with study of drought indexes became specific STI and GMP had positive and significant correlation in %1 level with yield in drought and normal condition , and on basis of both indexes TN1084 and TN2437 showed the most tolerance.
