Reduction and Elaboration in Inflorescences of Sisyrinchium (Iridaceae).

Inflorescences in Sisyrinchium have undergone both reduction and elaboration in several features of inflorescence form, including elongation as well as number and arrangement of metamers. These aspects of inflorescence architecture are examined in the light of a phylogenetic hypothesis developed from ITS and matK data, using approximately half of the species in this widespread and populous genus.
